Purpose & Need
The temple generates significant organic waste daily from flowers, food preparation, and Annadanam operations. This waste currently goes to landfill. Converting it to compost and biogas creates value, reduces disposal costs, and eliminates a source of pollution.
What the Project Does
Establishes a composting unit and biogas digester to process organic waste from the temple and kitchen. Compost is used in the campus garden; biogas supplements cooking fuel. Vocational training in waste management is offered to community members.
ESG Impact
E: Diverts organic waste from landfill; reduces methane emissions; produces clean fuel. S: Vocational skills for community members. G: Monthly waste diversion data published.
CSR Opportunity
Suitable for CSR themes around circular economy, waste management, or rural livelihoods. Component sponsorship available for the biogas digester or composting infrastructure.
Beneficiaries
Temple operations, the kitchen team, the organic garden, and community members trained in waste management skills.
Transparency & Accountability
Monthly waste diversion volumes and compost/biogas output will be published. Training attendance records maintained.
Project execution by Xylem Foundations. All funds are managed under the Foundation's governance framework.
Nothing that comes to this temple should go to waste. Flowers, food, and faith — all of it can be transformed into something that nourishes life.
